Pac-lite Ruger upper

Does anyone have any experience with the Pac-lite upper ass'y for the Ruger MkII pistol? I'm trying to figure out what to get as a "kit" type of 22 pistol. It must be lightweight, as I intend to carry it while backpacking.
I'm thinking that the 22/45 polymer frame with a 4 or 6 inch pac-lite upper would just about have to be the berries. It probably wouldn't weigh a pound, unloaded. Any experiences, good or bad?

I bought a Pac-lite upper about a year ago. I bought the cheapest, blued standard (tapered barrel) Mark II I could find and put a 6" Pac-lite upper on it. I does reduce the weight. I think the Pac-lite web site shows the amount on weight reduction.

The accuracy wasn't quite as good as my 6-7/8 slab side Mark II, unless fed better ammo than the Dymapoints from Walley-World. That said, the accuracy does seem to be improving with use.

The light weight barrel does allow more "shakes" than a hevier bull barrel, but should be worth it for packing. Anything in the 4-6 inch range would be a good choice for what you want I believe.

I have the 6" on a 22/45 and it is over a pound probably more like 1 1/2. I would say from a machine rest it is probably alittle more accurate than a factory but a little harder to hit with in the field. I like mine, When I got mine I had 2 choices buy a purple one or pay an extra $35 and waith 3-5 weeks. Well lets just say its the only purple gun I have ever owned. One advantage though is that when we have taught female aquaintances how to shoot the purple for some reason seems way less intimidating. They sure seem to like it. Plus the light weight is a plus for women and smaller people. Another option is the older aluminum smith and wessons. They aren't quite as fancy but they may be even lighter and for sure they are cheaper.

I hadn't thought of the old smiths.... are those the ones that have the low positioned barrel? I don't remember the model number.
Thanks for the replies, guys...
