I am looking at buying a Anschutz 64. I just so happen to have a dealer near by and have the opportunity to see all the models. I remember some time back reading of case ejection issues in this action. Anyone know about this issue?

I have one, actually a Weatherby XXII. That gun is a 64 with a Weatherby designed stock.
It has zero issues with ejection or any other issues for that matter.

If you do NOT move the bolt back fast then you will have case ejection issues.

It took me a bit to realize that.

I have an Anschutz 1517 which, if I understand how Anschutz designates its rifles, is a 64 action barreled for .17HMR.

It'll throw cases 8 feet or more.

(And it's one sweet rifle . . .)

My dad gave me an Anschutz .22 sporter on the 64 action 49 years ago. How many rounds it has fired I have no idea but the total would be rather impressive.

On my rifle the bolt has the extractor on one side (right/bottom) and another strip of metal on the left/top side, both held in place by a semi-circular piece of spring steel.

Long ago I found it was possible to interchange the two pieces inadvertently after a detailed cleaning. Even so it would usually extract but not reliably. Assembled correctly it has always functioned reliably.

As Tanks has noted above, the bolt has to be operated fairly briskly - if not fast, at least not slow. If I retract the bolt slowly sometimes the fired case will flip out of the extractor but not clear the receiver.

You don't necessarily have to work the bolt hard, just operate it normally.
