Sightron 3x9 rimfire. Have about 5 of them now and the best bang for the buck I've found in a rimfire scope. Midway had them on sale for about $115 last month. Ordered two more but they are on backorder now.
My biggest fear is when I die my wife will sell my guns for what I told her they cost.
What a wide range of choices - no recoil worry relatively short range but a use for high magnification too. I like my 3x9 Sightron Rimfire on a 10/22 and it would be a good choice, on my CZ 17Hmr I've got a Pentax 4x12 that is effective lots of bang for the buck, hard to argue with Leupold. I think you might like a 4x16 Nikon Monarch to decide which eye you want to take out on the varmints out to about 150 yards depending on wind. You just don't have many limitations - most scopes would look in scale on that rifle and you could go cheap without a big penalty - but they are so accurate you hate to short change the rifle.

Look closely at the Leupold 3-9XAO EFR with the fine duplex. Got one on my Rem 541T w/fine duplex makes for a great precise sight picturen and good enough contrast for hunting. Holds zero as well as any scope I ever had. adjustable objective helps squeeze accuracy from near to far. Put a Stoney Point elevation knob on for longer range shooting.
Me too on Leupold. I have one on my M77-22mag and it is the bomb! (Of course, the vast majority of my scopes are Leupold, interspersed with Nikons, Swarovskis and Kahles)
Only problem putting high magnification good scopes (Leupold, etc.) on a .22's and .17's is that most have their parallax set for 200y or so. Even most AO scopes wont focus well below 50y. Leupold does make an adapter for their 12x scope (and others?) which lets you focus down to 50'. C.G.B.

The best scope on the market.
One of their 3-9 should be just the ticket for this rifle.
I really don't disagee------at all --- have one of the 3X9's on a 22 mag and love it -- just was testing the waters to see if there was another viable option -------guess not -----go Leupie!!-------done deal ----just need to find one
OMG!-- my bow is "pull-push feed" - how dreadfully embarrasing!!!!!

The "EFR" version that Pete A, mentioned is a real nice scope. They also make a 2-7x version, or used to. Whatever you get, I'd highly recommend an Adjustable Objective.
Actually there is no real reason to get a $$$HIGH$$$ Leupold for a 17/22cal, unless you just want to spend the money. An El Cheapo Optronics has a better Warranty than Leupold. Even if you run over it with your Truck, Optronics will replace it. Ask Leupold if they will. And Leupold now charges for "Evaluating" a potential problem scope " IF " there is nothing wrong with it.
I'm not recommending Optronics though. However there are many Scope Brands which will handle the demands of the small cartridges and do it well. But if you like Leupold, they are normally OK.

I have a 3-9X Leupold Compact EFR on a Sako .22 rimfire. It's an excellent match, both in terms of size and utility. Of course, it's a little pricey compared to what people typically use on a .22, but it also performs if you are serious about your rimfire shooting.

I just returned over the weekend from a Chiseler shoot and me and the M77-22 mag with with Leupold scope accounted for 150 confirmed kills. My 22lr 10-22 buddies were impressed with the bolt action's accuracy. The only problem was my severe sunburn.
