Does anyone know if a double has ever been made in 22 rimfire--22 mag or lr? I think it would be cool to have a .22mag double rifle! We Band of Bubbas N.R.A Life Member TDR Cummins Power All The Way Certified member of the Whompers Club

Once I seen a matched set of five doubles in a magazine. Started with the 22 LR and went up to the big boys. I believe there were five rifles in the set and they were made by Holland and Holland but this was about 15-20 years ago. With enough money you can custom order anything. My biggest fear is when I die my wife will sell my guns for what I told her they cost.

Harry on this forum owns a pair of double rifles one in 470 and the other in 22LR. Yeah you are right, I covet the 22LR. There was a poster over on NitroExpress.com that was currently making a single shot action. He said he would try to build a 22LR double. I'm on the list, or hope I am. Rusty We Band of Brothers! Yes, and no, there were .22 Rimfire double rifles. But they actually were not ever intended to be double rifles. Robert Churchill the gunmaker famous for the "Churchill XXV" twenty-five inch barreled shot gun built a few. They were side-by-side and chambered in .22 Rimfire. But they were ribbed and given a front bead as shot guns and not front and rear sights as rifles. Why? They were intended fort long shots - seventy five yards plus - at wildfowl such as geese. As the ultimate "super extra full choke" pattern is, of course, one bullet. There is a description of them, and I think a photograph (I've certainly seen a picture of one) in one of Robert Churchill's books "Game Shooting". Hope that helps. I've also see a Rigby side-by-side double about twenty-five years ago for sale at Holland's in .22 Svage Hi-Power. Bt no quite the same thing - this was a true rifle. When .22 Savage HP was the new high velocity "wonder cartridge" of the time.

August Francotte, from Belgium, I think used to make them as special order. The company is no longer in business.
