to me Smiler

I just bought a Remington Nylon, which should be here in a couple of days. Mohawk brown colour and a scope too, which I'm not sure if I want to keep on or not. If it turns out to be a straight shooter, I'll probably have a moderator installed too. All I need for now is lots of ammo Big Grin

Any ideas what ammo might be good for the Nylon considering feeding and accuracy (in this order)?

I have a Remington Nylon Model 66 in brown color also. I don't have a scope mounted on mine and use it for plinking with Remington Thunderbolt ammunition.
That rifle is a fun gun!!!!
Have fun with yours.

I've had at least 1 Remington Nylon 66 on hand for the past 40 years. The only ammo that I've used that didn't feed well was the waxy Russian "Junior" brand that came in a sea-green box. I used Eley subsonic 22 LRs to set the performance standard in most 22 LR rifles.

Thanks for the replies! Nice to hear that subsonics shouldn't be an issue.

My Nylon arrived yesterday and it is in perfect order. Scope is a 4x Bushnell and the combo feels great. I'll probably get to try it next weekend. According to the serial numbers mine was manufactured in October, 1981. I'm not sure if I dare to put a moderator on it, it's so sleek that even the scope is almost too heavy for it's fine lines.

JTH,
There is just a steel cover that goes over the action/trigger assembly. It is not rigid like the receiver on a centerfire rifle. It can be moved from side to side. So, installing a scope on it may not be the ideal solution for getting better accuracy from the Nylon 66.

Yes, I've heard that it can be hard to make a scope work properly on the Nylon 66 because of the plastic structures. However, the scope was already attached, so I'll give it a try anyway. The iron sights are quite good also, so if it feeds and shoots well, I'm happy with either.

I'll mostly use it for plinking and shooting pigeons and other small game. It's not gonna be any long-range sniping, so accuracy shouldn't be an issue.

I finally got to try out my Nylon 66 now. It's a really fun gun to shoot and reasonably accurate also. Mine seems to have something against subsonic ammo, but others it fed well. Federal High Velocity something ? ammo worked fine and didn't make too much noise either. I'll try some more brands soon, but now it is fine as it is. The scope will stay on until I have tested the accuracy more thoroughly, but I think I'll get rid of it after that.
