Yes, the last 10 years were not funny. Although we tipped in 2003 the prohibition of war-like semi-automatic rifles, now you can buy with the right permit every possible semi-automatic rifle. But we've got tens of new regulations. New regulations for approved shooting rules, storage regulations, etc ... So, the market is full with old stuff and the prices are down. I paid 600.-€ for the Hämmerli. The authorities are encouraged to feed every gun, they get in their hands, into the blast furnace. Another problem is, that we have elections this year. At present it is very scarce. And if the Red / Green extremists take the power, they want to ban every gun ownership, all owners should be expropriated and everything must be destroyed. No nice views, especially if you own now 20 weapons, like me, and my father is a gunsmith with a little store and with a collection of old weapons. But I will not currently be discouraged. Although this left communists pack gets more and more popular.
Unfortunately I cann´t try the gun. Yesterday was too much going on at the shooting range. I´m there as the Supervisory and so mostly I can´t shoot self. But Tuesday I'll test my new toy.

Here the last groups I shoot yesterday.

This were 25 rounds Eley Club at 25m with both hands.

And this 25 rounds Eley club and 25 rounds RWS pistol match with one hand at 25m. Only 6 holes are at the "White".

I mean, for beginning, it´s OK. Wink

With unification have the former E. Germans moved into government positions and political offices?

Hmm ..... yes and no. Ok, our Chancellor comes from the East. The
Problem is simply, that the parties are all more left today. And parties such as the arch-conservative Union, especially in Bavaria, have just too many dead bodies in the basement. Not a week goes by, where someone does not have his pockets stuffed with money. That confused many and so naturally find left slogans by Marx and Engels here a fertile ground.
The Greens have a special status here. They were in the 80s the environmental and Peace Party, which they still are of course pluses, they now make the claim, no matter which resort, to be the absolute expert. That many of its founding members come from the previous left scene, have had some "contact" to the RAF or even phädophile / incest ideas come from their direction, don´t disturb the regular voters. One chooses "Green" and so saves the earth. In Baden-Würthemberg we have recently opened the first Green prime minister and in Stuttgart, a green mayor. Especially in the big cities such parties climp to a 25% plus X. But who closely followed the party programs of the Greens, realizes that these are really closer to the PDS, the successor party of the SED. Much, if not everything in daily life should be controlled. Births, child care and day schools. Education should not be more the part of the parents.
The economy should be forced into a neo-planned economy. But with a kind of chinese style of leadership. So, who is participating, may also like to live in luxury and amass millions.
All German roots are to be destroyed. With endless migration wants to defeat us. "Every day something die from Germany. And that's good" (Jürgen Tritin) And there are other quotes from green politicians in this direction.
And so, of course, are all self-determined people an eyesore. And legal gun owning is not part of a controlled citizenship.

Martin, I would test the ammo using a pistol rest (like an MTM). This will tell you the most accurate ammo and the most cost effective ammo. Use the cost effective stuff for practice and the best stuff for matches. For best accuracy install a red dot sight.

Thanks, Peter.
Yes, a pistol rest would be the best for testing ammo. But at the range wasn´t such a rest. My dad have one at his range. I will test it next time.
I shoot a lot of Eley ammo in my match rifles. In the past I used the Remington target for pistol shooting, but I "mean" the quality have changed. Roll Eyes Eley is OK. Not the cheapest, but very accurate. The RWS ammo is a little bit hot loaded in my eyes. And the R25 or R50 are to expensive. Nearly 20.-€ for a 50 round box. Eeker
An Aimpoint is a good idea, but not allowed in the ISSF-rules. Wink

Sorry to hear that the left wing progressives are taking over. I'm guessing that it will end badly.

Does any one import Federal 22 long rifle to Germany? I've found that it worked well in my High Standard. And Winchester Super X does well in my wife's Ruger 22/45.

Hi Jim,

Today I saw a few differant brands at a internet dealer. Federal "standard" ( ~3,50€) and "Gold Medal" (~15.-€), CCI SV (~3,50€) and pistol match (~11.-€). From Winchester I saw only the T22, the other were HV or subsonic. The Eley general dealer "AKAH" have the complete Eley programm for order. For the "Club" the price is at ~7,-€. My shooting Club sells it für 4,50€ and if you buy 10 boxes, for 4.-€.
I will drive next week to a bigger gun store in the town and buy the federal standard and CCI pistol match. Than should my dad order a bigger number of the "tested" ammo.

Federal makes three different grades of rim fire match/target. Because I'm cheap I use the least expensive of the three. It's stock number on the end flap of the box is 711B.
Hope it's available to you.

Jim,

you mean this ammo:
http://www.federalpremium.com/...s/rimfire.aspx?id=49
I was wrong, the price is about ~6.-€/50round box. This would be OK.
I will test. Wink

That's it!
I stocked up on this prior to the current shortage. I was not so lucky with the Winchester Super X.

T22 is pretty good ammo, as is PMC Target ammo. Both reasonably priced in the USA. Good enough for 25 yard target shooting. For 50 yards I would find something better.

Congratulation. You are lucky to have purchased a beautiful Hammerli. The 208 were made in batches of 40 and are very accurate.

You also got it at a very good price.
