Wife was telling me how nice it would be to catch some seal this spring and summer. So after much thought and searching (litrally all over the U.S.), I located a Winchester Model 70 Ultimate Shadow stainless camo in .223 WSSM!! These things are as hard to find as an honest politician.

Now, I cannot shoot a seal (wrong color skin), BUT my wife can. Smiler
I went and ordered all of the tools to load benchrest level ammo too. Now I have to wait...which really sucks.

I am soooo excited. For my wife I mean.

Good luck! I tried shooting seals (before MMA)and they've gotta be the toughest targets going. Of course, it's worse if you're in a boat. I finally managed to shoot one that was in our seine. You'll have to make sure your wife practices a lot. (snort)

Befor MMA a friend of mine used to regularly have some great adventures seal and sea lion hunting in the lower Cook Inlet ,Kenai Penn. area... He said the 243 worked better on sea lion .. But that was pre .224 X Bullets ....I know a guy in Sitka who hunts for 40 day and pay off parties ..He told me he had a couple exits on shoulder shots on cow sea lion with the 50 gr [I think ] X bullet from his 223..He showed me a target that was one tiny ragged hole ....There is a 22/250 here I have been oggiling for a while ......I can,t shoot seals but there are some teens I know who can, but arn,t outfitted ......The stainless Ruger Target / Varmit. is set up as a perfact boat gun....Your Winchester is , according to the Hodgdon manuel, the fastest 22 there is

Yesterday I found out that all I can do is be an observer. Yup. I cannot drive the boat, harpoon the seal, or even help drag it in the boat. I cannot even be a lookout.

But you know....I have been wanting to install a hydraulic steering system in the boat, and now I have the perfect excuse...errr...reason, my wife will have to do the driving! dancing
