FrostbitGunsmith in Alaska
I need some trigger work on my Hoffman Arms with the pre-64 Winchester M70 action. Also it's a single shot at present because the magazine door pops open with recoil.
Who have you had work done by and would you recommend them?

AkshooterStan Jackson seems to be the go to guy in S.C.AK
Andy Hawk also is pretty good and M70 trigger's is one of his specialty's.

BrettAKSCIAfter speaking to a number of people including gunsmiths Stan seems to be the go to guy if machining is required. The guy from precision arms was also highly recomended for general work.

Rhyme of the Sheep Hunter
May fordings never be too deep, And alders not too thick; May rock slides never be too steep And ridges not too slick.
And may your bullets shoot as swell As Fred Bear's arrow's flew; And may your nose work just as well As Jack O'Connor's too.
May winds be never at your tail When stalking down the steep; May bears be never on your trail When packing out your sheep.
May the hundred pounds upon you Not make you break or trip; And may the plane in which you flew Await you at the strip.

Thebear_78Stan does some very good work, but my favorite alaskan smith is Steve at alaskan custom firearms.

M70NutYes, Steve Untiet at Alaska Custom Firearms does great work. He did some work on my Marlin XLR and I couldn't be happier. He does some amazing work, i've handled a few of his custom lightweight mountain rifles and those things are works of art.

Thebear_78Its pretty hard not to like a rifle that shoots under moa and weighs less than 5 lbs with scope and open sights.

Dr. LouFWIW, I just had Precision Arms screw a Sako 416 Rem barrel on to one of my Sako AV 375 H&Hs. He also had to open the barrel channel to accommodate the heavier 416 barrel. Did a great job at a great price. Lou
