Scott KingTrout beads and an abbreviated moose.
Ah! Lots of beautiful clouds in Dillingham this summer!
The mountains and lakes were as pretty as always.
Boo boo was in abundance.
But I did hear this one got pasted a couple days after I was taking his picture.
Run Boo boo run!
The dollys, trout, char and grayling were focusing on the spawning salmon and we couldn't keep them away from our trout beads on fly rods.
All that fishing left very little time for moose, but I did get to sneak off for a two nighter and this fellow couldn't come to the call fast enough Saturday morning.
For a rifle I used a 9.3x 62 Snowwolfe here on AR sold me a few years ago and sent a 320g Woodleigh toward the moose. I haven't seen the bullet yet, I think its in the left front shoulder. The rifle hits like a sledgehammer and once again I wasn't able to get a follow up shot in the bull as he folded with the first round. Nuts.
Eunice or Florence or Maybelle or whatever I'm supposed to call my poor tired old jet skiff did it again for me. She's got a couple broken ribs, a leaky bottom and a chewed up jet foot, but she made the haul in tattered style.
Not a Zambezi evening, but a little wilderness and woodsy.

Ten years into it Babe still doesn't seem to actually like killing moose. She goes, she stays, Babe enjoys the boat ride, cruising around on the game trails, sleeping in the tent up on the cot and sleeping bag. Doesn't enjoy so much when I'm on the cot or when shes down on the floor on my jacket. I took Babe over the first trip to see the bull down, only 40 yards from the tent and boat, and she uncomfortably sniffed around a little, peered at the bulk suspiciously and headed back to the cot. No real joy there.
We've been fishing all over, the Agulowok and Agulopak, Nushagak and other area streams.

I was just trying to figure out where the picture you posted was from. The one with the "newish" little cabin.

Bill/OregonScott, you are surely living the Alaskan high life, which those of us in the Lower 48 can only dream of. That 9,3X62 with the heavy Woodleigh is such a classic choice, but I'll bet you could also have "gotten her done" with your Model 8.

There is hope, even when your brain tells you there isn’t.

Scott KingDang it, I didn't find the bullet. Yall know how it goes, you read three or six opinions on AR about something, think you better try it! No joy on the necropsy. The entry side shoulder blade was broken into large pieces, more like getting hit by a truck than a bullet. Some bloodshot, but very acceptable.
Bill, you're right and I really need to. I'll follow the AR recommendations on loading and maybe head out with someone holding a scoped rifle so if I can't call him in less than 100 we'll still have a good use for the pack frame. Gonna duck hunt and bead fish tonight and tomorrow.
