Holy poop indeed !
Would have been quite the wedding ceremony if that Grizz popped out among the guests. Interesting those people wanted to tie vows outside, in Grizz country.

Hunting.... it's not everything, it's the only thing.

Very normal for us to have outside weddings and other social gatherings in bear county and no, we're not packing heat.

What struck me most about the encounter was how long the struggle lasted -- and how chilling it would have been to hear it and not see it. It would seem that bears are not nearly the efficient killers that the big cats are with their grab and crush the neck strategy.

None of the big predators are efficient killers it just a myth that they are.

There dozens and dozens of videos out showing all kinds of predators killing all sizes of prey.

It's more of a "what for?" than a "why not?".

There's really no gun politics out here, so there's no inclination to Open Carry or Stand Your Ground, or Castle Doctorine. Just like we all "bear" gloves and hats and rubber boots, we all "bear" pistols and revolvers, AR's and shotguns. I was at the range Saturday afternoon and had suppressed handguns as did others there not with me.

So it's not a political or cultural issue here, it's no more or less than "what for?".

When going out to any event if I don't think I'll need my waders, I don't bring em. If I don't think I'll need my warm gloves, I don't bring em. If I don't think I need to pack a lunch I don't, if I don't think I need sunglasses I don't bring em.

We don't bring handguns to outdoor weddings and would be asking serious questions to those that did.
