For some reason I have about 300 of these 350g Woodleighs on my reloading bench. I'll be shooting them out of a 375 Weatherby at 2500 fps. Do you think they're good brown bear medicine or should I go with 300g Nosler Partitions at 2700 fps?

Regards,

Chuck

I don't think a bear would know the difference as long as they shoot good out of your gun. Both are good bullets.

That's why I think as well. I'm going to try them out on some 600 lb Hogzillas next month...

Chuck

They tend not to stay in Water buffalo as the weight really pushed them through from what I have seen. Boars they go straight through but i haven't shot a 600kg Hogzilla.

I reckon the bear will get a big hit when hit by one. The PP's need velocity to open up which you are doing so should have a nice effect on the bear.

chuck,

I use the 350PP in my 375wby. Great bullet that leaves a huge wound chanel and, like all the other woodleighs I've shot, very accurate. I've shot only black bears with them but the results were impressive to say the least.
There are alot of really good bullets out there for the 375's and I'm sure they would all work fine but I like the 350pp out of the 375wby.

350pp
win brass
fed 215 primers
4831sc
2510fps
work up from 83gr and find the sweet spot

Thanks Steve. What velocity do you load them to in your 375 Weatherby. I was thinking 2500 to 2550 fps out of mine but haven't loaded any up yet.

Chuck

Chuck,

2510fps, 24" Remington factory barrel, 3/4"groups are very common. Seat close to the lands.

Thanks! I may just use 375 Weatherby factory rounds (300g Nosler Partitions) but if I roll my own (which I usually do) it will be the 350g Woodleigh PPs

Thanks again

Chuck

Chuck,

Does the factory load shoot well in your rifle? It shoots all over the paper in my 375 Wby but at 2800 fps the 300 NP would be super bear medicine. I've killed at least a 100 big animals with NP's. The tissue damage was alway extensive and I usually got an exit. If it will shoot well in your rifle you'd be hard pressed to find a better load for your hunt.

Thanks Mark, I love the Partitions as well. I'll be taking the rifle to the range next Saturday. If it shoots them well, I'll order 4 more boxes, practice a bit from prone over a pack, kneeling and standing and call it good.

Chuck
