The .338 is so popular up here that sometimes I think every hunter has one. It's my favorite cartridge, and my only big game rifle is a Ruger .338WM. I would not mind using a lightweight bullet around 180-grains in weight for deer, but since I mostly hunt moose I prefer bullets starting from 230 grains. The 225-grain TB, 3-Shock, and A-frame would also be good choices, but the .338 does so well with the 250 grainers that I mostly use those. I have used some of the Federal 225-grain TB-HE, too. The 275-grain A-Frame provides a slower but huge punch on game within 300 yards, and I imagine so would the 300-grain Woodleigh. The A-Frame is not too expensive at Cabela's, so I have a few boxes of 250 grainers for moose hunting, and 275-grains bullets to load for special hunts.

Try the 225 Triple shocks from Federal.I have a Ultra Light Arms that simply loves them.They will shoot 4 shot 7/16" groups.I decided why reload when the factory are that good.
