Preference Points/Alaska?

St8tmanPreference Points/Alaska?
I have recently been told ADGF has implemented a Preference Point System for certain areas of Brown Bear Draw Tags. In particular, I was advised Unimak Island has the preference point system for non-residents. Can anyone tell me if my information is erroneous, and if not how long has this been in play. Thank each of Your for Your Time.

St8tmanI was told by a guy who lives here in the lower 48, but has been to Alaska hunting 23 times. He wasn't positive on the info, but told me he thought they had implemented this for Unimak and a couple of other traditional hard to draw areas. I am trying to either confirm or deny what I was told by someone who actually has knowledge either way.

I am trying to find someone who would know either yes...or no.

Please post the results of your inquiry. My bet is no preference points.

St8tmanI contacted AF&G and was advised this was purely a rumor. NO preference point system had been implemented. Oh well, it was worth a try.

Yup!! Between my wife and I we would have enough points on Delta Bison that one would have been delivered already cut up to my door.

AKsheephunterHey Jim,
At least you have the best backyard where you can walk from your back porch and have the highest concentration of huntable moose in that area, huge brown bear, and trophy class dall sheep...but your right, one must draw the tag.

I may have the backyard but you have the computer that seems to be locked in on that 14C Sheep Drawing Permit.

True but we should go to that method of selection. The draw system sucks big time.
