Guy's,

My wife and I will be hunting this fall and we are flying Delta/Alaskan airlines. I have a stainless hard shell case that will carry both rifles. My question is, can I put the ammo in it's original box locked inside the gun case. Sorry for this question but it's my first time flying with a firearm. I assume since it's Alaska I don't need any special paperwork or permits??? Thx..DAN

Dan-

Here's some really good advice: Go to your airlines websites and PRINT out their policy on firearms and on ammunition, then carry these printouts with you in your carryon, so that you can produce them when you run into a ticket agent who tells you you are not in compliance with their policy; then ask to speak with a Supervisor. You should also print out THE CURRENT TSA POLICY AND CARRY IT AS WELL.

Never, ever take someone's third party info about traveling with firearms/ammunition.

Dan,

Put your ammo in original factory boxes or equivalent in your duffel bags. You'll be fine. I lived in AK for 22 years. Guns are not a big issue there. You booked another hunt without consulting me? I only could have put you with my personal friends!!!!!!

If I remember correctly the ammo cannot be in the rifle case. it has to be seperated.

Permits??? not up here brother.

A lesson in irony

The Food Stamp Program, administered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, is proud to be distributing this year the greatest amount of free Meals and Food Stamps ever, to 46 million people.

Meanwhile, the National Park Service, administered by the U.S. Department of the Interior, asks us... "Please Do Not Feed the Animals." Their stated reason for the policy is because "The animals will grow dependent on handouts and will not learn to take care of themselves."

Thus ends today's lesson in irony.

Best advice there is. You'll be surprise of how many uninformed ticket agents there are, possibly even gun paranoid.

Guy's,

Thanks for all the response. Mark - I'm sorry again, this hunt is a friend taking care of me. You know on a taxidermist wage I can't possibly afford a guided moose hunt like the one I'm about to embark on. As for the Africa trip last year, another buddy deal and we only shot 2 trophy animals and a few cull critters. When I hit it big, I will certainly look you up brother!!!! DAN
