........Any one read the BS written in the Juneau Empire about the doctor that got mauled ???....Seems like the writer and or ADF&G is trying to establish a precidentthat if you get mauled by a bear and live it must be your fault because you were stressing it out ....What a bunch of horse ---- ..........The paper said the good doctor had a 6 mm rifle with him but that he wasn,t a hunter ...and that the bear had been hanging around makeing a bother of itself .....The paper must have had to find someone to assist them in their re edjucation efforts and so got a biologist from the Interior to comment .,.,Seems the local assistant biologist indicated the bear thot there was a food source in the vacinity......Lets see there were 5 deer that had been killed and put in a freezer .....The bear had lived in the area for around 4 years and had probably followed other hunters befor and eaten the gut piles.....Mayby the bear was stressed because it wanted what the men had and was hopeing to get .../.,It is amazeing how with a few words the media can change things around so easily ......

.If it can,t be grown , its gotta be mined ....

The Daily Rag is a good source of amusement - probably why I pay for delivery of the printed version. Both my wife and mom were working at the 'pistol that day. Things got interesting, but there were still a couple of physicians that bitched and moaned about their surgery schedules getting juggled. Dr. Raster was discharged same day and is doing o.k.

6mm is a pretty pathetic bear rifle. The first radio account said he had a pistol. I think a .44 would have been a better weapon in this case.

We were hunting about 15-20 miles north of this location over the Vet's day weekend. I had my brownie tag with me, but we didn't see schitt for sign. Only saw 5 deer in 4 full days of hunting (8 hrs - 4 to 5 miles each day.)
.338 in the minimum carry rifle, .375 is better.

Have you been following the "Beavers of Dredge Lake" issue? This one has been absolutely hilarious too. If you or I dammed up a salmon stream, we'd be thrown in jail so fast it would make your head spin.
