My good friend Paul and I went dall sheep hunting in the Wrangell Mountains in August and September of this year. We hunted with Larry Rine and Red Iler. I have taken my brown bear, moose and now dall with Larry. Great guy and great hunter. He is getting a little long in the tooth so not sure how much longer he will be chasing up mountains after sheep. Red, on the other hand, is only 62 and has many years left. Although those of you who read the Anchorage Daily News may have seen the front page story about Red cheating death and saving his buddy: http://www.adn.com/2013/08/18/...buddies-recount.html
Kirk Ellis with Ellis Big Game Guides provided hunting support and outstanding flying with his brother Cole. We had great weather and got really lucky connecting on two nice rams. Paul took his at just over 400 yards and mine was 538. Both shooting .300 RUM. We hiked and climbed our butts off. By far the hardest hunt I have ever done. Also learned I have developed a decent fear of heights. But it was all worth it. Enjoy the pics.

Wow Thanks for posting !!!....great pics, I'll be looking at these pics all winter long. Congrats to you both on two good rams!!!

Looks like you all had decent weather for flying and hunting the wrangells. Planes look familiar, seen them cubs around somewhere before.

It was a 10 day hunt, but we moved camps between sheep and ended up spending a couple of days back at base camp waiting for weather to clear. Paul is also from Austin. Larry is from West Virginia and Red is from Oregon. Only country that really compares is BC. Chasing cats on top of the mountain with Doug (Chilcotin Hillbilly) on snow machines is right up there.

Sure is pretty country. Great rams too.
Really like the one of the green eye with the big horn circle.

Those big tires are not for smooth landings, they're to float those planes when they land in the water!! ha!
Thanks for sharing with us Vince, congrats!
