This is the Grizzly I shot out of Nome this past week. Green score has it at 24 and 8/16's. It won't be eligble to be officially scored for another 60 days but it should make the 24" minimum easily. It squared out an honest 8 foot, an incredible bear by any standard. Guesstimated weight was 650-700 pounds.

We're still hunting for another Grizzly for my brother. His buddy got a nice Moose, now Scott wants to get a bear. I'll fill in all the details when I get home. It was quite an adventure.

whether it scores high or not-to me you did a fine job in getting and successfully downing a nice speciman!

I,ve mentioned this often enough that there is big bears apart from the coastal breed. Good job!

The claws on that big boy are huge! Congrats.

BTW, I was outside of Slana hunting a couple of weeks ago and came across it's sister. I was all ready to take a shot when two cubs popped up...
Maybe next year!

J,

Fantastic bear! This my first post coming out of the bush. Still in Anchorage, trying to get home to Salt Lake City. If you recall, we hunted w/ Brian Simpson, north of you. Brian speaks quite well of your brother. My best friend shot a beautiful 8-1/2 footer which missed the book by 1/16". I on the other hand never had an opp to get my bear but I did shoot a 62" moose @ 15!!!!!! yds w/ my Ruger BH 45 LC. Details to come later when I can upload the pics from my cameras SD card. Have to head out to the airport asap.

I posted my moose story over in the handgun hunting section. My first 3 days hunting I personally took part in the butchering and movement to camp of 3 moose. Talk about baptisim by fire.

Nice bears I shot a 8' squared grizzly in the interior of BC June 1 this year.

Skull measures 24 1/16" which is fairly big for an interior grizzly.
