It certainly won't be hot here. You will see rain and temps in the 40's and 50's. Of course, it could cool off and ice up and you can be pretty sure the wind will drive the rain sideways part of the time. Bring good rubber rain gear and something like a foam pad to sit on while you glass. It really adds to the comfort and lets you sit still longer.

OK,He came out a 169 yds on the laser...too far,or miss out forever?!..So,I aimed a tad high and it went in the rear and out the chest!(Hmmm, did that 500 Jeffery 570 Barnes X even expand?)He shuddered, turn right and disappeared and went up a almost vertical 12' ledge, then across a open area, now 200 yds angling off towards the alders.I shot again and missed, the Guide also, then I got him again and he was down in some tall grass, but by the time we got to him(slowly),he managed to the alders..I saw him facing us,but he was very sick,so I moved in and pulled the 50/110 BFR and shot him in the shoulder with a 600 gr Woodleigh at 1400fps from 20yds-he then went to sleep!Tuff lil sob!..A serious blood trail like we have never seen?!...My partner got a big 10'1" Chocolate bear the first morning(lucky stiff) and it was approx 100yds with a 338-225 Barnes X and he took 3 rounds before he was fully down and then one more from the guide to be safe when they walked up!His first bear and now he's hooked too! Both to be full mounts! I luv Alaska! Big Grizz next year!

DAMN is that the size when you are talking about a 10 foot bear should make a nice rug as well.

If you get a warm sunny day dont bet there wont be any mosquitos or black flies. The damn things come out in conditions you would think would kill them. I know that last trip I wished they would all die, got ate alive and plenty of snow on the ground. Good job on the your Brownie. That was a fast trip. It looks like my brother in law who lives in Soldotna and I are going in the spring. You can never go too often.

THANKS FOR THE CONGRATS!...It was a hoot!...I did bring the 416 4pounder,but did not use it as I wanted a bear kill with the 500Jeffery"Grizzinator"...The pistol round did not exit, but expanded nicely. We are getting both bears life sized and they are supposed to be at SCI Reno in Jan...On the 500 Smith,I love my 6.5" PC model and they shoot great with a variety of bullets..Get one! My God, what gorgeous and awe inspiring animals! Congratulations! Did the 570 TSX Barnes bullets expand? My 500 Jeffery is a few weeks away and the 570g TSX and the 570g banded solids were going to be my go to bullets.

Smiler

Chuck
