Gents, Looking for information on selling wolf pelts. I was thinking about doing some 'trapping' (actually it's shooting with a trapping license) for wolf pelts. A mid-winter hunt for wolves, which would pay for itself, and maybe some extra cash would be fun. I'd be doing this in GMU 3 mostly on Kuiu Island. Thanks!

BW, You could call the Alaska Fur Exchange in Anchorage. They sell pelts, instead of finished goods, for the most part. Could also check with some of the folks that make native crafts and use a lot of fur for the dolls and masks. Worth a try, but I don't know if it would be successful.

Thanks. I checked out their website. Guess I'll have to call next week. Not really looking to make money at this, but if it'll pay the gas bill...

BW, Finally I get to assist you with some info. I realize this is heading in a northerly direction but it may help. Fairbanks Fur Tannery, the owners name is Al, a great guy also. 907-452-6047 If he can't help he can head you in the right direction.

BW, welcome to our world, this has been the light at the end of the tunnel that you have only caught a glimpse of. Dreams that awaken you at odd hours of the night and you cannot remember, but was the calling to the outdoors. Congratulations you are born againg hard. Check out some taxi-dermists they would know a lot more about marketing wolves. I do a lot of trapping up here in interior Alaska and have my own market for the hides and skulls. I caught 11 last winter, and look forward to more this winter. Good trapping. Wolftrapper p.s. In every good man there's a wolf trapper fighting to get out!
