My wife shot a moose a couple of years ago in Wyoming which I guided her to. It was no more difficult than a big bull elk, but I realize Shiras moose are not near the size of Alaskan moose. Also, the regs that require bringing all the meat out makes it even more difficult.

Just looking for ideas on location, flying services, etc. I've done quite a bit of remote camping, and my son(33 years old) may accompany me.

Shiras moose = quarter horse.
Alaska moose = draft horse (WHOLE HORSE )
They are not the same critter at all.

Location depends on the experience you want...
There are high moose density areas, they usually
draw alot of hunters. If axcess is easy then
it will be hunted hard. Some areas produce or are known
to have produced huge bulls, again these get hunted
harder.Do you want to fly in or road system hunt?
Stationary camp or float?
40 Mile Air is a good air service and a good start.

My only suggestion is make sure that you get dropped off by a plane with tundra wheels vs. a float plane to avoid having to go through miles of bog to get to your hunting area. I used Lake Clark Air last year and had a great hunt. I believe that they also have packers available on a daily basis if necessary. http://www.lakeclarkair.com
