Hi all. I got the chance last weekend to test a new light weight rain proof prototype bag. It weighs about half the normal weight and dispenses with the need for a pack cover!!! As always the weight to $$$$ ratio will be in affect, so expect $$$$. Barney's should be offering them in limited quantities for next fall's hunting season! This one is a pinnacle and I should be able to test the Hunter version here in the next few weeks! Enjoy!!

Rhyme of the Sheep Hunter
May fordings never be too deep, And alders not too thick; May rock slides never be too steep And ridges not too slick.
And may your bullets shoot as swell As Fred Bear's arrow's flew; And may your nose work just as well As Jack O'Connor's too.
May winds be never at your tail When stalking down the steep; May bears be never on your trail When packing out your sheep.
May the hundred pounds upon you Not make you break or trip; And may the plane in which you flew Await you at the strip.

Bret,
How did the bag hold up? Material looks a little thin. Been using the regular packs for years and they are heavy but work. Never has any issues with gear getting wet but I use stuff sacks for anything in the bag. I would love to see a ligher pack provided it will last.

We're going to be "gifted" with a health care plan we are forced to purchase and fined if we don't, Which purportedly covers at least ten million more people, without adding a single new doctor, but provides for 16,000 new IRS agents, written by a committee whose chairman says he doesn't understand it, passed by a Congress that didn't read it but exempted themselves from it, and signed by a President, with funding administered by a treasury chief who didn't pay his taxes, for which we'll be taxed for four years before any benefits take effect, by a government which has already bankrupted Social Security and Medicare, all to be overseen by a surgeon general who is obese, and financed by a country that's broke!!!!! It is a lighter fabric and will not hold up as long or to as much punishment as the other fabrics. The idea is to make an ultr light sheep hunting pack. ie. you aren't "busting brush" and beating the pack up to no end. I'm not saying it isn't tough because it is, but it isn't as tough as the others.

Hey Brett-

Do you know what kind of material that it is made out of? It looks kind of like the Tyvek wrap used in home construction. And I guess they now make protective suits out of it too.

Is is noisy when it gets cold? (like some plastic materials do)
