A friend and I hunted with triple c in spring of 2015. It was a baited brown bear archery hunt. Did not see any illegal activities, but the outfit was incompetent, and a rip off.
I’m not shedding any tears over this.

With the reputation this guy had I am surprised he stayed in business as long as he did.

Trashing Alaska, nothing gets me more worked up. Good riddance.

Let me ask an ignorance question. They refer to the lodge and also a "bear dwelling."

Is it against the law to bait too close to a bear den? If so, how does one know where all of the bear dens are located?

Or are they referring to baiting too close top the lodge?

I’m guessing that’s a typo. Never heard of a bear dwelling. But you can’t be within a mile of a human dwelling.

Good point on him having someone else run the operation, a lot of loopholes in our line of work.

And I agree, the editor was asleep at the wheel, a lot of "typos."

This guy as far as I know never had a master guide license. He worked under David Laser who by the way had his license pulled years ago and got it back.
The only license Smith had was a guide license and a transporters license. The guides license Is far from being an outfitter. You can get all this online with the Alaska License bureau
I think if you do some searching I believe you will find some posts years ago on AR not to favorable back then either.
I wonder if he was doing an illegal hunt with Ted Nugents son he did a TV show he shot a grizzly over bait on a black bear hunt.
Maybe game and fish should watch more TV.

Nope, he's gone. Made enemies of everyone in the area (wherein I have a cabin), including a local lodge owner, whose son is a Trooper. They filed on his assistants also.

If you are going to carry a big stick, you've got to whack someone with it at least every once in while.
