KTOO, a local news network based out of the Alaskan capital, Juneau, said rumors were swirling that Trump Jr. was in town. In February, the $150,000 "dream hunt" was raffled off with the winner joining Trump Jr. and his son on a yacht traveling along the Tongass National Forest coastline in southeastern Alaska. The description of the prize said that Trump Jr. "needs no introduction" as someone "whose passion for the outdoors makes him the number one ambassador for our way of life." Coastal Alaska Adventures, which will lead the hunt, said plans were in place to start, but only after the weather improves sufficiently. Owner Keegan McCarthy told KTOO: "We're just on hold right now. We're going to be kind of waiting to see what happens here. Southeast has been getting hit pretty hard." Organized by Safari Club International (SCI), the week-long event had initially been programmed for November. It was said to be held in part to launch the "Hunter Heritage Series," which will introduce young people to hunting. The auction listing did not say which of Trump Jr.'s three sons—Donald Trump III, Spencer Frederick Trump and Tristan Milos Trump—will be on the trip. Also in February, Trump Jr.—an avid hunter who has made several shooting trips to Alaska as well as over the border in Canada—was granted the right to hunt a grizzly bear near the Bering Sea town of Nome. He was one of three who applied for around two-dozen places reserved for non-resident hunters. Reuters reported that the state holds permit lotteries for bear, caribou, moose, and other animal hunting permits for the state's various regions. On average the number of applications far exceeds the number of spots available, the news agency added. There are believed to be some 30,000 grizzly bears living in Alaska. The Trump administration has been criticized by environmental groups for proposing a rollback of a ban against baiting the bears in the state's national preserves. State officials countered that it is necessary to kill more predators—including grizzlies—to open up more game hunting opportunities. Trump Jr. has also traveled to countries including Mongolia and Zimbabwe for special trophy hunts. Jason "You're not hard-core, unless you live hard-core." _______________________ Hunting in Africa is an adventure. The number of variables involved preclude the possibility of a perfect hunt. Some problems will arise. How you decide to handle them will determine how much you enjoy your hunt. Just tell yourself, "it's all part of the adventure." Remember, if Robert Ruark had gotten upset every time problems with Harry Selby's flat bed truck delayed the safari, Horn of the Hunter would have read like an indictment of Selby.
