I think Shockey's been smoking too much ox poop. My relatives do not consider shooting a musk ox as being "hunting". It is more like going to a supermarket, and picking the cow you want your rib steaks from. I too have never heard of the ox doing anything but standing and waiting to be shot.

"HIM doing one of his hunting segments and then he said something about the "dangerous" Musk Ox and that they killed more people in the North then the bears." Actually, there are lots of folks that are trying to "revise" the number of folks killed by bears up here. Ditto the famous "fact" that wolves have never killed (or even attacked) humans. Apparently, revisionism, or even a vivid imagination, is all one needs to create statistics regarding the outdoors. I guess if your "facts" match the "publishers" needs, you get the front page.

Although as rule muskox are docile, anyone approaching too close to a group circled is asking for trouble. One bull after another will dart out and try to intimidate you. If you don't back off, one will come and put the hoofs to you, and those hoofs guarantee instant mincemeat! It's not a common problem, but has happened to a few fools over the years in the high arctic, usually some teenager who has to show his bravery by getting too close! Are they then considered dangerous? ......how close does one approach a threatened bear before it becomes a danger? Arctic
