Anyone tried or have experience with the Mountain Hardware Windstopper brand of pants or jackets for a Dall Sheep hunt in the Wrangel Mountains in late August?
THanks,

I've looked and checked out the MH winstopper pants at Beaver sports in Fairbanks, but I went with Arcteryx gamma pants for later hunts in the Brooks range, and Mammut Champ pants for early sheep hunts in August.The MH would still work, however the wrangells will get alot of rain in Aug. I'd go with the Arcteryx for water repelency and windproofness.

I see a lot of Mountain Hardware clothing up here but I don't own any. Somebody must like it though because you see it almost as much as Carhartt gear, which is probably the most popular all around brand of clothing in Alaska.

I've got Arc'teryx gear also and it is very good but pricey. It's very popular among the mountaineering and extreme snow sports crowd.

dogcat;

I have the MH tech jacket. It is lightweight, well made and plenty windproof with pit zips. It is recomended.

I have a bunch of Mountain Hardware gear .. I rate the quality of the functional elements as better than Columbia , Way better than the North Face I,ve had [ a rip off ],.
Quality at least as good as Cabela,s , Which I find to mostly be Tough gear .....
I really like the soft shell jacket I have one that I,ve worn about 300 days so far , It is light enough I can tuck it in my waist overalls , As in a waterpruf shirt or wear it as a light jacket wind shell ..............It doesn,t breath the same as Gore Tex or Dry Plus and it isn,t as water pruf ............I haven,t tried any of the Arctrex stuff yet , but I still like GoreTex and Dry Plus .....
If I were doing a big hunt in the Wrangell,s in the fall I would probably choose Helly Hansen , Grundens or Cabela,s Gore Tex .......Your gonna get wet , wether from sweat or rain .... popcorn

.If it can,t be grown , its gotta be mined ....
