Mike, Try the pipe line right of way past cptn. cook park (gray cliffs / moose pt) or the horse trail that takes off funny river rd.

Thanks for the suggestions. We had a short amount of time so we went to the Funny R. Horse Trail. Ususally see birds when riding through the forest (a little earlier in the year, though). We walked for close to an hour and did not see any.
We did see tracks of about ~7 ft brownie in the snow-he liked that!
Son was getting tired and had as far to walk back out! so we made a little campfire, shared some hot chocolate I packed and talked and rested. 20 min. lated he had the strength to get back to the truck and still had enthusiasm to try again another day
