I'm thinking of a grizzly hunt in fall 2004/spring 2005 and hoping for something in the 8.5 - 9 foot range if possible. I'm also hoping for a silver tipped or Toklat coloring. Any suggestions as to who I might contact for info? I'd go this next spring but I've got a big taxidermy bill coming up from this years Africa trip.

thats a tall order. i would like to take a bear like that. as i have the brown bear already and would like a good grizzly. 8'-8.5', 9' i don't know.

for recommendations in ak. bob hannon shoots the big ones. or try b.c., look at golden bear outfitters, hard to get in with them. good luck.

Yes, I may need to scale down the size request a little. I have 2 - 7 1/2 foot black bears and I want the griz to make them look smaller. However, I don't have room for a 10 foot brown bear. [Big Grin]

DennisHP --- I just hunted Caribou and Wolf with Chris Gall of Rainbow River Lodge at Lake Iliamna. In six days my we saw 69 Bears, some in the 8.5 to 9 ft range. After my hunt my guide had a hunter take a 9.5 footer. The location is just across the mountains from the tragic death of the two so called Bear lovers responsible for two Bear deaths as well. If I were interested in a Big Bear I would certainly go back there. I took my Big Bear near Cold Bay, which is another good spot, I don't know any outfitters operating there. I hunted Moose with Dennis Harms who has a concession on Kodiak Island and is quite successful there. [Wink] Good luck and good shooting.
