A lesson in irony
The Food Stamp Program, administered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, is proud to be distributing this year the greatest amount of free Meals and Food Stamps ever, to 46 million people.
Meanwhile, the National Park Service, administered by the U.S. Department of the Interior, asks us... "Please Do Not Feed the Animals." Their stated reason for the policy is because "The animals will grow dependent on handouts and will not learn to take care of themselves."
Thus ends today's lesson in irony.

| What size are you looking for? I've got a 22 ft 06 Winnebago Chalet that we could possibly rent to you, only problem is I will be sheep hunting that weekend. If your interested let me get with my wife and see what she has to say, worst she could say is no.

| I'm looking for a smaller motorhome. My wife, son and I are arriving in Anc. on Aug.16th, returning to Anc. on Aug.26th. It is my youngest sons graduation present. He did'nt want a hunting trip but wanted to see Alaska instead. |

| May I suggest to rent a car and sleep at the lodges? This will probably cost you around the same amount of money. Get a copy of Milepost from your local bookstore and call up some folks to make a reservation. It's peak season and you want to be sure you have a spot especially if you're going down Kenai peninsula, etc. |

He'd have to get a stellar deal on a rental car to beat the RV price. Last June I couldn't find a decent car for less that $125 a day, and I rent cars in Anchorage quite often. Add in peak season hotel rates also starting a $125 a day, and then meals 3 times a day in restaurants, and a $175-$225 a day motor home starts looking pretty darn reasonable, even with a $30ish a night RV park or campground fee. Craigs or the Alaska Lists are the way to go. I used ABC RV rentals last time around, and they are a confused mess to deal with.
