Anyone going for a hunt soon? I'm headed out the 14-16 for black bear, gonna see if I can't get close enough to zap one with the 10mm, gonna bring the 375 ICL just in case, or if I can't get close.

This will be my first time hunting in a costal area, what should I expect? I'm used to hunting in the denali, and palmer area, so this is big change

DP - where will you be hunting? If you go to PWS, be prepared for RAIN - watch the shores as the bears like to eat the grass in those areas. Good luck - KMule

Heading out today for a few days of shrimping and brown bear hunting between Chichagof and Baranof Islands (Peril Straights.)

The biggest thing to watch for around here is the tides. I'm guessing it may be the same up there.

Good luck...

The snows out of Valdez are still pretty deep out to Galena Bay.

Remember that you can not shoot from a boat of any kind this year. You must be on shore. Rule change this year.

Yeah, Dave, everyone thinks this year will be like last (which was a complete fluke being about 2-3 weeks ahead of normal). I imagine there will be a lot of people driving around in their boats just looking at snow this year.

I am waiting until the last week of May to hunt between Cape Fairfield and Port Bainbridge. Anyone have any idea what the snow is like out there right now? As far as hunting out of Whittier I have always heard good things about hunting blk bears along the eastern Kenai, that area reached by boat from Whittier...good luck.
