Mark - I like the Hammerhead pic. That's something else.

The local rag ran a front section article on this event in Sunday's edition. I can see things getting exaggerated. 40# fish suddenly becomes 60# and the 11" wide bite becomes 18" wide.

Shark Bite Account

I do know that a lot of unusual fish have been caught in Alaska, especially during the last few El Ninos. Most of these are on the outer coast around Sitka. I remember a Sunfish being caught as well as a green turtle washing ashore. Seems like the trollers will occasionly catch yellowfin tuna also, so . . . . . a great white should not be ruled out.

My take is that the timber deck planks on the dock are 2x8's which puts the bite width and size of the Halibut at the original estimates - 11" and 40#. That's certainly not a 60# butt.
