When i first got up here, I wanted to grow a 50 pound cabbage. I dug up my back yard, found some genetically good starts, planted them early, mulched and fertilized, etc. Then i found that they were riddled with slugs. A guy at alaska feed and mill told me to cut beer cans in half and plant them throughout the garden at ground level and fill them with beer. I did. Every slug in the neighborhood made the journey to my garden, got drunk, and drowned in the beer. True story. Then I realized that I was wasting perfectly good beer on cabbage ... and my neighbors were the ones benefitting from it. DUH !!!!! One must have perspective. | ||
