What is a reasonable dollar figure for a Brooks range OTC sheep hunt fly out for a resident? I have 12 months to hike the Chugach and get into sheep shape. What about on Kodiak island for goats? What is a reasonable expectation for cost?

For the Brooks on a fly out you're looking $2,000-3,000 per person round trip depending on the transporter service, logistics, plane, and where you fly from. Call before the draw would be my recommendation. Thanks, I am going to do a lot more research before December. Kind of sucks, but the reality is when I retired from the military and took a job in Kentucky in November I gave up my Alaska residency. Now we are back in Alaska, and I have to wait another year to become a resident again. I think I can buy a non-resident hunting license in December and then apply for resident tags after I log out and log back in. As I will be a resident before I actually go on the hunts. I'll call the fish cops and find out for sure. The website says something to the effect of that.

Be careful, but I think not. You have to be a resident to apply for resident tags. Stop by the offices on Raspberry St to get a definitive answer. Dave

Definitely go talk to them to be 100% sure on residency. I'm not sure about the nuances of reestablishing your residency. Ok found it. Page 15. You may only apply as a Alaska resident for permits if you will be a resident at the time of the hunt. That's me! So that's buy a non-resident license log out, log back in apply for permits as a resident.
