Do yourself a big favor and book with Phil Shoemaker if you can get in - I don't know how his schedule is for next year.

Ray Atkinson can handle it for you.

ALLEN W. JOHNSON - DRSS

Into my heart on air that kills
From yon far country blows:
What are those blue remembered hills,
What spires, what farms are those?
That is the land of lost content,
I see it shining plain,
The happy highways where I went
And cannot come again.

Warren Johnson runs a good outfit at Bear Lake Lodge near Port Moller. He is Don Johnsons son. I work on his planes, he has good equipment.

I second Phil, who goes by 458Win on this board. At the very least, ask him who he would suggest.

Give Scott Newman out of Petersburg a call for SouthEast Boat hunt for big bear. I Don't know him personally, but have heard good things about his service.

Parker, Boyce and Jimmie Rosenbruch are all long time SE Ak brown bear guides with solid reputations. I don't know if Chuck Chandler out of Juneau is still in business, if he is he's excellent, his son Darell may have taken it over??? Don't know a whole lot about Seahook Charters, good or bad.

Do yourself a favor and check out all of them before you settle on one. You picked an excellent regeion to persue your trophy, truly amazing country and you get to experience it from the comfort of a boat (some are yahts).

If your interested in hunting the Alaska Penninsula shoot me a PM and I'll send you info on our hunts and give you info on other guides in the region.

All the best-Ron

I can also recommend a guy who works the coastal area off his yacht. Drop me a line if you'd like more information.

If I were going Brown Bear hunting in Alaska, I would hunt with Dennis Harms, out of Chugiak ( not sure of that spelling). He hunts Kodiak and I can attest to his professional approach and he has the some of the best guides in Alaska. I do not have his phone number here but I could get it if you are interested. He guided me to a huge Alaska Yukon Moose, I already had my Bear. thumb Good luck and good shooting.
