Marc Edward Jackson, 53, was missing from the camp Thursday morning, troopers said. It wasn’t immediately clear why Jackson wandered from camp overnight, but his hunting guide found him roughly 500 yards from camp that morning, according to Austin McDaniel, a spokesman for the troopers. The guide administered first aid and called troopers for help around 9:20 a.m. because Jackson was experiencing hypothermia, troopers wrote. The Alaska National Guard responded to the call, but while they were on the way, Jackson became unconscious, troopers said. Jackson was transported to a Dillingham hospital and declared dead. His body will be transported to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy, troopers said. Very sad, I'm guessing it was some kind of pre-existing medical condition. When I went brown bear hunting I had 10 months earlier experienced CHF (Congestive Heart Failure) I could easily see that happening to me.
