From what I've seen goat hunting on Kodiak is pretty user friendly. Jake Jefferson could probably give you more info as I'm landlocked these days.

I tend to use more than enough gun

Well this season I had about 9-10 billies in the 9”
Range within 400-600 yards of my tent. I’d never seen a easier place to hunt goats in all my life. No brush, goats even were lower than our tent and a some higher, some walked along the shore of the lake even. I thought to myself “anyone who could shoot would have a chance at a goat here!
The catch. The wind has to be right to access this lake. If it’s not you either don’t get into the lake, or you don’t get out. You could walk out, only about three miles to the salt water.
Aside
From that you may find an outfitter who will do you a March hunt on Kodiak. Chance at a goat on the beach. But that’s hit or miss depending on the snow that winter. South east alaska does some late season goats and I’ve heard stories of them being shot from boats but I can’t confirm that.

Bob Milligan, Milligan Outfitting in northern coastal B.C. Big, long hair goats with reasonable access. Went in December 2017 and got a nice 10” goat. Feel free to PM me if you want more detail.

I would do Jake Jefferson
But that’s all draw areas I believe.
And the application deadline was in December.
So 2019 would be the earliest if you get drawn.

Rhyme of the Sheep Hunter
May fordings never be too deep, And alders not too thick; May rock slides never be too steep And ridges not too slick.
And may your bullets shoot as swell As Fred Bear's arrow's flew; And may your nose work just as well As Jack O'Connor's too.
May winds be never at your tail When stalking down the steep; May bears be never on your trail When packing out your sheep.
May the hundred pounds upon you Not make you break or trip; And may the plane in which you flew Await you at the strip.
