I saw this picture about a year ago. He is definately a Hog!!! There is a rumor going that says he was taken out of Kotzebue. No friekin' way!!! AK Penninsula or Kodiak for sure. Maybe Unimak Is... But, Kotz? come on! I'd like to know the real story behind this bear as well.

I live in Kotzebue, and beleive me, we do not have bears THAT small!
Perhaps it could have been from a hunt that was flown out of here, but I figure someone is merely misdirecting the would-be bear hunters into the 'wrong' place.
The brown bears just down the coast (on the Baldwin Peninsula) from here are roughly 7 to 8 footers. When using the unscientific method of measuring the bear print I measured this summer was a little over seven inches, thus should be roughly eight feet.
I'm told the brownies near the village of Noatak, on the Noatak River are "monsters" (this is what they call them up there), I figure they must be larger, since they do eat plenty of fish. ~~~Suluuq
