Our season ends here on the peninsula in 9E on Oct 20 but, depending on the weather, we usually have bears out till late Nov. I know where your coming from .22 rimfire, in unit 17 the bear sightings go way down from the begining of sept till the end of that month. It's funny how just going to the south side of the lake where Waterrat lives it extends the occurance of bear sightings by a month or so (wich is good because that bear season dos'nt start till 10/1). When I am on Kodiak island in the late season I have seen many bears in Dec and I would say that some of these bears spend very little time in their den. I think what you are expireancing with your bears is because you are in the interior. DRSS NRA life AK Master Guide 124

I'm hunting the Togiak Lake area from Sept 20th to Sept 30th, I sure hope there are some nice brown bears that are still out ... Regards, Chuck "There's a saying in prize fighting, everyone's got a plan until they get hit" Michael Douglas "The Ghost And The Darkness"
