Good & bad news
I heard from an outfitter friend of mine. The good news is that thus far all of his hunters have connected with rams except for one.

The bad news is that it appears that somewhere in the Brooks Range a guide has fallen to his death. Apparently, a satellite call was received from a foreign client indicating the guide had fallen off a cliff and was dead. A search is on going.

Based upon the e mail I got, the authorities were not sure . The client could hardly communicate. The troopers were contacting outfitters.

This is what I thought too, but when I got up to the Brooks in the ANWR, you didn't have a choice. When you saw a ram and decided to climb, it got steep and dangerous every time. Not all areas of The Brooks Range have trees and grassy meadows.

I'm saddened to hear about this situation with the guide, what a horrible deal, but after my hunt, I'm surprised it's not more common.

Truly sad. I hunted dall sheep in Brooks Range in 2005 and keep contact from time to time with outfitter. So It is of personal interest of me to know which outfitter.

I just talked with Susan Aitkens out of the Kavik Camp. She has not heard any news of this yet.

Good news. The guide was found. Hurt but alive. I am not sure just how badly hurt.

He was found not real far from the Coldfoot area.
