I have to agree with you BW: I have not found the hunting regulations overly burdonsome. Alaska is huge and the species we have here to hunt are all without exception world class animals that the world's hunters all highly value and I think the regulations reflect that. I have looked at some of the regulations affecting Fed lands and subsistence hunting rights, but it really doesn't affect me...I could spend the rest of my life hunting in Units 4, 23, 18 and maybe 21 and never know I couldn't do something somewhere else, and I certainly never feel deprived....I feel very fortunate...But I do hope that they do not try and put roads out to Bethel or Kotzebue.

yes but be fair! As a student you couldn't afford to do much big game hunting anywhere Ak or Lower 48. I know I was a student as well!!

I grew up in Ga and saw hunting disapear before my eyes.I moved to Alaska to find new hunting grounds. Its the most regulated place I have ever seen. The guides and tourist companies rule the fish and game along with antis in the fish and game its self. The change here to 4 brow tine 50 inch has made alot of people almost quit hunting. They have cut down areas you can hunt. The game is saved for the bears, tourist who hit alot of moose and hunters who can shell out alot to hunt. Its a shame as big as Alaska is that its regulated to death.I hope there is some way to change the pathits going down.

I just tried to hunt the caribou hunt here.It was a walk in hunt .You had to go 6 miles before you could hunt due to a new wonderful change in the regs. The fish and game circled out the areas where the caribou normally are and took it out of hunting. The river you had to cross in order to legally hunt was uncrossible due to hot weather and being glacier fed.Its this kind of changes that make me think that the fish and game wants a big park instead of hunting.I spent a Fall on the Kenai its restricted to death. It is these regs that will kill hunting here.I hear more and more people quiting hunting because it has become to complicated to hunt.I saw 145 moose last year in a small area but none legal .It is a smame for the roadkill and bear kill of moose to be ten times that of the hunters. If somethink is not done Alaska will be a wonderful place for the gay disney bunch.Hunting is still a way of life for many in alaska even though there is some misuse. If it were not for Federal substance there would not be any caribou hunting in this area from road areas.I hate when I see when Alaska hunting becomes only a rich mans sport.
