358 win bullet for black bear

What 358 win bullet would be appropriate for black bear. I wont have the gun for another week, but was debating on what bullet to try first for a black bear hunt. I was initially thinking the 225 grain accubond, but the nosler book says that the bullet is too long with a standard length magazine. The rifle is a ruger. I imagine that it is a standard length magazine. I'd hate to buy a box of bullets to find out that they were too long. Would the 225 grain partitions be too tough for black bear? Would they expand with the slower moving speed of the 358 win? Thanks.

The last black bear I shot was with a .35 whelen and a 225 gr Sierra game king.

I went to the sierra from a 250 gr. speer because I was'nt getting the expantion and quick kills I wanted on pigs. I shot a buffalo with the 250's and it worked great for that but I don't think I'll ever do that again so I'm sticking with the lighter bullets.

the hogs dropped in there tracks from the 225 gr. and the bear went about 20 yards but he did'nt run the 20 he rolled.

The Nosler partitions have a fairly soft front end and pretty much always expand , but will drive nice and deep in the 358 Win ...... It depends on the size of the black bear you shoot a 500 lb black bear isn,t something you want to be shooting too soft a bullet at ... I used to shoot the 250 Hornady round nose in my 358 Win , But a 225 Partition would probably work as well or better ..

.If it can,t be grown , its gotta be mined ....

While I have never used it for black bear, I have had great luck with the 225 Sierra for taking deer, pigs, coyotes, etc. Lou

My nosler book doesn't show any data for the 250 grain bullets. Have you had any problems with the 250 grain bullets being too long and taking up too much powder space? I like the idea of the 200 grain barnes tsx. Is there any problem with them expanding considering the lower velocity of the 358 win?
