Rhyme of the Sheep Hunter
May fordings never be too deep, And alders not too thick; May rock slides never be too steep And ridges not too slick.
And may your bullets shoot as swell As Fred Bear's arrow's flew; And may your nose work just as well As Jack O'Connor's too.
May winds be never at your tail When stalking down the steep; May bears be never on your trail When packing out your sheep.
May the hundred pounds upon you Not make you break or trip; And may the plane in which you flew Await you at the strip.

Anyone who claims the 30-06 is ineffective has either not tried one, or is unwittingly commenting on their own marksmanship

SnowwolfeNothing here, applied for 6 different permits. Just like I have since 1977. After 35 years of nothing I feel fully in my right to call the Alaska F&G permit system crooked.
My biggest fear is when I die my wife will sell my guns for what I told her they cost.
15 February 2013, 21:45
labdadNothing here. Can't complain much as I drew for Kodiak bear in 1984, not drawn again until 2007, Unit 20 moose, then in 2009 for Etolin Archery Elk, which I could not use due to life getting in the way. Will keep donating to the cause.

AkshooterWhat am I doing wrong I can't get anything to come up on my name on the states website for the 2012 draw.
I went back and checked my email conformation and I did apply?

llamapackerYou don't want the 2012 draw, this is 2013!

They haven't posted the 2013 results online until noon Alaska time.
I pulled a Koyokuk moose tag, so should have another adventure.

AkshooterThe state website is now up so you can go on and do a name search. Nothing for me I think I must have put in for Buffalo for over 30 years now. My luck will be when ever I do draw on a buff I will be so old the news will cause a heart attack and I still won't make it.

NorthwayDidn't need any draw permit except bison and struck out there. Registration and regular permits fill my niche just fine for all species.
16 February 2013, 04:51
AKsheephunterMy wife and I drew Caribou, she drew DC482 and I drew DC481.
My lucky wife also drew a Chugach Park Sheep Tag DS137.

AbobMust have issued a lot of GMU 13 caribou tags; just about everyone I know who put in for one got drawn. Me & the boy got a DC480 (Glenn Hwy) partner hunt. With so many tags, it is going to be a zoo on the Denali Hwy. I also drew an anterless moose hunt in GMU 14. Funny how F&G works, some years nothing, now it is almost too much. Not complaining but who has freezer room for 2 caribou & a moose?
Jim
fur, feathers, & meat in the freezer

I could make it work.

I'm hoping for the Alaskan Paleo smorgasbord of Sheep, Bou, and Moose in the freezer.

Thebear_78My nephew is 10 and this was his first year to apply. He drew a Delta bison, dm413 cow moose, and dc482 caribou.
Lucky little devil. I've been putting in for that bison hunt for 15 years.

Paul WLucked out big time! Drew DB 250 spring 2014 Kodiak Bear and DC480 unit 13 caribou.
As Alaska resident not required to hire guide but strongly leaning in that direction. ADF&G lists Mike Munsey as guide for this area. Anyone with direct experience with Mike? Thanks Regards, Paul
