I keep hearing that Leica's are immortal and was curious if any of you foggy weather hunters in alaska have seen one fog or fail in anyway?

I know of several Leica that failed. The old Geovid model the SEALS we were deployed with were using.

Any pair of binoculars will fail eventually, it doesn't matter what you pay. The better ones always have a good guaurantee, though they seldome need it.

If you stick with binoculars made by Nikon, Pentax, Fujinon, Burris, Leupold, Ziess, Swarovski, Kahles, and so on.

Lots of good companies.

If you spend at least $500 for a pair of 8 or 10 power binos with 36-58mm objectives you shouldn't have problems. $2500 buys more, but not considerably more.
