I'm looking for a representative Brown bear with a hunt from a boat. I thought I'd found a good operator but was warned off by several past customers. I'm looking to take my wife and possibly another couple along with me as the only hunter. Does anyone have any suggestions?

The one I know best, in S.E. Alaska, is Dale Adams..
ADAMS ALASKAN SAFARIS Dale Adams PO Box 6021 Sitka AK 99835 (907)-747-6108
Never heard a bad word about him, and his boat is absolutely gorgeous. It's around 65ft and designed after well established fishing boats. I've been aboard and was impressed with the quality, even down to the engine room.

Anyone who claims the 30-06 is ineffective has either not tried one, or is unwittingly commenting on their own marksmanship Phil Shoemaker Alaska Master guide FAA Master pilot NRA Benefactor www.grizzlyskinsofalaska.com

Kenny Schonover , , John Eriksen and Fagen Skaffelstead all operate from Hoonah , NE Chichagoff Is. has the densest brown bear population in Alaska outside the McNeil River. They are all in the phone book. All have been here about forever . Ben Forbes slipped his coil a while ago . He was one of the most experienced brown bear men in Alaska. He was out of Sitka .Each of the 3, I mentioned first operate thier own outfit and all have thier own boats . I,m not sure what boat Fagen uses but Kenny and John have nice big boats and Great success rates. If you are fortunate enough to get Lucas Clark as your guide you can,t ask for better. One of the very best young guides who is an absoulute huntin machine but doesn,t act like an animal.I hope you do well and enjoy Alaska.. gumboot out.
.If it can,t be grown , its gotta be mined ....

Take a good look at Brad Dennison, who hunts the same area as does Adams. I have met Adams & he seems like a good guy. I am returing to hunt with Brad Dennison this spring. Return business should say a lot; my hunting partner will join us for his 3rd hunt with Brad. You can reach him at 1-907-747-8759 (alaska coastal outfitters). His wife, Minnie, is as good a cook on a hunt as you can ask for/ chuck green

On second thought, let me add this; I did NOT have a good hunt with Erickson & his son, during my first brownie hunt in 1995. I went with Brad Dennison in 2002 & found out what a great hunt is really suposed to be like/ chaz

I can't afford him but you should take a look at Jimmie Rosenbruch with Glacier Guides, Inc. They take top awards year after year including SCI guide of the year, Weatherby awards, etc.
Their boat is simply amazing...an 80 ft. custom yacht. Like I said, I can't afford it but if I could, they would be a serious consideration, especially if bringing guests. The daughter is an excellent guide and was featured on the cover of Field and Stream as one of the top guides in the USA. They have a nice DVD out also.

i hunted with jimmie rosenbrush a few years back. I don't think i can think of one negative thing, except he is expensive - last i knew of was 18,500 for brown and black. His black bears are just a trown in thing, but he hunts on the island where they get huge. my brown was 9'4" and the black 7'6", and at that i turned down an 8' black that had big rubbed spots
Who was your guide...dad, daughter or son in law? I wish I could afford to hunt with them...that price is correct and current. I received an email from them this week.
Do you have any photos you could email? I would like to hear more if you get time.
