I just got back from the Helicopter Expo in Anaheim, CA today and found out that my older brother (an Alaska resident) and I drew a party Mt Goat hunt on Kodiak in DG475. Now the working out and planning shall commence. The last goat hunt I was on was in the Road system. This will be my first full on fly in hunt. My brother Ron has been on many fly in hunts. I just wanted to share my excitement.

Good hunting
Will

Very Cool! Good luck. Were you at the HAI Convention? I was supposed to go but couldn't get away.

Hey Jim Z
I was everywhere at the HAI. I had more vendors to contact than I had time. We did not have a booth we are a part 91 Power Utility, so I was checking on new equipment and had meetings with Pratt and Whitney and Bell Helicopter. It was a better show than we expected. Not as busy as the last few, but still a good showing. Everyone is bracing for a rough 2009.

What kind of helicopter connection do you have?

I'm the Fire Aviation Officer for Oregon. I deal with a lot of helicopter operators that are in the firefighting business and work with us. I useually try to go to HAI, but bugets didn't allow it this year.

After doing two mountain goat hunts, the only good thing I have to say about them is they are in the past tense. LOL
Good luck and watch out for the bears.

Your last pic looked sort of like my mountain goat hunt. Just add snow til you can't see any rocks. Then add more snow til your roughly knee to waist deep.
Then the hunter's face needs to have more of that 'what have I gotten myself into' look mixed with 'God, if you'll just let one goat pass by within range I'll never sin again'.

I would call it "bad luck". Now you have to get in shape and go to the mountains for a lung burning, leg eating trip.
I wish I was going toooooo.
