The hunt for antlered bulls in Unit 19D has been canceled after moose populations in that area experienced a significant decline during the 2022-2023 winter. This unit falls southwest of both Denali National Park and Denali State Park. Of the 15 calves collared in March of 2023, none survived the remainder of that winter. The ADFG reported an estimated 35% decline in abundance when they conducted a Geospatial Population Estimator (GSPE) survey in a portion of Unit 19D In November of 2023. If the population rebounds this year, the season may reopen for the fall of 2025. Kathi kathi@wildtravel.net 708-425-3552 "The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only one page." | ||
