I shot this bull last week on Nunivak. I have been applying for this tag for 10 years and finally drew via the alternate list.

I used a Parker Bow, Gold Tip arrows and a Muzzy 90 grain broadhead. One arrow was all it took.

It was unofficially scored at 97 P and Y with deductions.

Congrats!!! thumb

Sure looks like you had a warm hunt.

I'm going to share your photos with all the bow hunters I know in J-town. They will be quite jealous.

Yes, it was warm....for us. I've been trapping all winter and anything about 15 feels great. I think it was 20 degrees out that day.

TB, I thought you might like that. Wink

If you ever draw that hunt you always have a place to stay here.

I was very proud to make a good shot with my bow. It's a great trophy, but the meat is actually the real trophy. If I could afford it, I'd go and get one for the freezer every year.

I've never hunted them, but when I was hunting with a friend in Ak, we ate quite a bit of muskox, and it is some of the best wild game I've eaten.

Fantastic! Did the others circle the wagons after your animal was down? A friend shot one on Nunivak a couple years ago, and the guides had to run off the rest of the herd, as they were most reluctant to leave their downed friend behind. A few snowballs and mock charges convinced them eventually that it was time to scoot. Wink

No, the others took off. My buddy and I had tags and we took the two biggest bulls of the herd. The last mature bull took the cows and headed off.

Thanks guys. The head has finally thawed and I'll finish caping it today.

He was. We drew together and got to hunt together. The weather out here was HORRIBLE this year. We had 13 storms out of the south in February and the beginning of March.

Go Pack!
