I can't get much herring, being a landlubber from the Mat-Su. But I like to collect hooligan for bait. It's not as firm as the herring, but it works good for burbot.

I've also eaten hooligan eggs, sperm, and even tried burbot eggs. I just fry them in butter. I think they're pretty good.
