i should and will post this in rec veh but wanted to reach as many alaskan hunters as i can as this is where i live also. i am planning on buying another brush vehicle and am trying to investigate how the ARGO holds up and the good versus bad of it. my dad [73 yr old] is moving up and id like to take him out for a few hunts before he can no longer get out. so im looking for a vehicle i can load him in as he can not handle a 4-wheeler. i have been hunting with my sportsman 500 [polaris] for 7 years and like it but i cant put him on the back as the trails i go on would buck him off. id like to hear from others that have had or been around the ARGO to help me decide on this very expensive machine before i spend the $ on it. thanks for your input. ted ---------------------------------- when all is said and done...more will be said then done | ||

The only draw back to the Argo is they are slower than a 4-wheeler. Put tracks on a Argo & they are a fantastic tundra buggy!!  | |||

The ARGO is an incredible vehicle and almost unstoppable. I just spent several days in one on the Zambesi Delta in Mozambique and previously hunted in Scotalnd in one. They will fill the bill for your needs but as others stated they are very slow so if you have to go back in 20 miles to start your hunt you'll need to start very early. Mark MARK H. I can only add to what others have said. They are slow, top speed about 8 mph with tracks. They do not have any suspension other than the tires. The 8 wheeled version equipped with tracks, winch, and a few extra parts you are looking at about $28K (in Alaska). But they will go places in the mud that would turn back all other ATV's and carry more of a load, 2 people, and haul a trailer while doing it. The only thing they can not do well is side hill. Look at the MudOx as well. They are similar to an Argo but are new in the market. Go to the Alaska forum and post this question in the ATV section as a couple of guys there own them as well. My biggest fear is when I die my wife will sell my guns for what I told her they cost. | |||
