Sitka is small and during the summer there is tons of tourist - so take what you can get. The
Westmark Shee Atika is right down town and is (or was, since it has been a while since I have been there)the nicest hotel in town. I would expect to pay $100 + for the super 8 during the high season.

Food for thought

Definitly the shee atika. Stayed there quite a few times. ALmost got kicked out once, something about alcohol, a couple of bagpipers and it being 3AM. Dont know, have a very vague recollection of that night. Had quite a few complaints the next morning, something about loud music.

ANyways give this place a thought.

A lesson in irony

The Food Stamp Program, administered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, is proud to be distributing this year the greatest amount of free Meals and Food Stamps ever, to 46 million people.

Meanwhile, the National Park Service, administered by the U.S. Department of the Interior, asks us... "Please Do Not Feed the Animals." Their stated reason for the policy is because "The animals will grow dependent on handouts and will not learn to take care of themselves."

Thus ends today's lesson in irony.

Mark, I get trapped in Sitka several times a year when the planes cant get into Juneau. The Westmark Shee Atika is plain but nice. Pretty good breakfast in their restraunt too. By the way I was raised in Montgomery - been getting daily reports from my hunting partners; seems the rut is cranking pretty good - wish I was there for it.

Mark 65,
The Westmark is pretty decent. The old Sitka Hotel had a fire last summer and pretty sure is back open for business again.
My pop came out for a visit & stayed at one of the locl B & B's earlier this winter. (off season). Was really nice.

Lotsa' folks walk into town off the cruise ships come summer.

Super 8 is clean w/ no frills.
Lotsa folks here for salmon/halibut charter trips come May-Aug. Hotels fill up fast.

Last resort, & always a low cost option = Starrigavin & Blue Lake campgrounds. Great if your coming over on the AMHS ferry and can bring gear.

Would try to lock in with a reservation as soon as you can.

P.E.
