If so got a question, just to verify a rumor I heard. Talked to my brother and he heard from a guy who's in the coast guard that out towards Psagshak and the Fossil Beach areas that there's a feral buffalo problem. Sounds kinda funny, kinda fishy but from what he heard is that they're allowing people to take the buffalo for free. Doesn't sound right...could anyone verify if this is true or not? Sounds like it's almost too good to be true, and I don't wanna get my hopes up. Planning on doing a trip up there come September/October, haven't been there in 4 years.
Thanks for any help!

Lol...yeah no joke huh? Last time I was there and used the internet it moved slower than Rosie O'Donnell on a 5k marathon.
The base was kinda neat, have some good memories over there but it was too close to Bell's Flats. Don't like that area too much.

theres quite a few out around saltery and up towards hidden basin.
The guy who put them there has a grazing lease and dos'nt take to anyone shooting them.
Theres a few more aroun pasagshak but there on privat land. The rancher will let you shoot one but for he gets you would be better of going to South Dakota.

Theres been free range Bison on Kodiak for years now, its a private herd that is privately owned, and has started to be a problem because the bison have started to venture beyond their boundries. To top that off theres an elk ranch there too where some elk had gotten loose and are now wandering around. Kodiak is turning into a big game ranch by default and F&G is not too happy about it.

There are rumors going around town that bison loose on state lands near Pasagshak are literally fair game, but that’s not so, according to Alaska Department of Fish and Game biologist Larry Van Daele.

The feral bison hunt will be permit only and will not begin before spring 09.

Don't know the details but it's definately quite the little Hatfield/McCoy situation out there.

Photo of Buffalo on Kodiak. We had to pack well around this bunch.

My brother and I on top. I don't remember the name of the area we were at. It was in the road system area around Kodiak. We spent a few spare days after getting our Mnt Goat to look for Black Tails. No luck it was too early in the season.
